Man of Steel trailer: tough stuff

Christopher Nolan has become the go-to man for rebooted superhero franchises. His Batman series took the Dark Knight back to his grim beginnings and dispensed with the chubby casting, ushering in the perennially disturbed Christian Bale. The gadgets became believable, the sets apocolyptic, and the whole feeling was of  aching, jaw-dropping cool. And that's before we've even started on the villains.

But Batman is over, the trilogy complete. Bruce Wayne has skipped off into the sunset with Selina Kyle and there isn't a millimetre of polycarbonate resin between them. All is quiet in Gotham.

Well not exactly. Because where Nolan has dropped one Marvel man off, he's picked the next one up. Many will be familiar with Batman's battles with Superman in the Marvel comics. The pair never really did see eye to eye with Batman existing just below the law and Superman regarded as a Government sell-out by the Dark Knight.

There's no telling whether Nolan will pick up that particular storyline but his incarnation of Superman has certainly been sprinkled with a bit of Batman cool. This is moody, gritty, and full of big things which go bump in a big way. And that's just the trailer.

Judging by the other recent efforts at reviving Superman, it would be fair to say Nolan is becoming the superhero's superhero.

This looks good, although you'd be a bit pissed off if you lived on Elysium.

Iron Man 3: Official full-length trailer

We haven't got long to wait until the third instalment of Marvel's Iron Man and it looks from the release of the trailer that we're going to be taken to some dark places.

Poor ole Tony is heading for a tumble, that's for sure.

Mila Kunis: perhaps her greatest ever interview

You'd never guess that Mila Kunis had a new film out, would you? It's called Oz the Greatest and the Powerful and even if it stinks it's going to get loads of attention simply because she's in it and she's officially the hottest girl on the planet, according to Esquire. And Olly Murs wants to have her children, which I, and Mila, both learned on the Graham Norton Show on Friday night. Mila seemed to be quite flattered by that revelation. I almost choked on my cocoa.

And after back to back interviews, some of which, according to the Sunday Times Style magazine, were maybe a little strained, Mila was evidently delighted to be interviewed by someone who either didn't know what he was doing or was putting on a great show of it. She talked with Chris Stark on Radio One about his mates, going to see Watford play football, wedding party tricks and the sort of things that make publicists want to fall to their knees and pull their hair out.

Within six minutes we learned more about Mila than any press officer could have wished for, in particular that she can sink a pint "pretty fast," and her favourite beer is Blue Moon. Me too! How about that?

Iron Man 3 posters: hitting the ground hard

Iron Man 3 is shaping up to be one of the must-see movies of the year, and by all accounts it looks like our self-confessed narcissist is in for a bit of a hiding. I always hate it when this happens. Why can't he just fly around zapping people and being a bit of a lad for three films? Drama. That's what it is. The cause of the downfall  of many a good superhero.

Iron Man 3 official trailer: the wait begins

After a trailer of the trailer, the official trailer of Iron Man 3 has now been released, and you're going to have to wait until April until it is released. Six months. By which time the hype will have eclipsed even Tony Stark's ego.

James Bond Friday: new Skyfall images

Today is Global James Bond day apparently. Perhaps the only government agent to have a day named after him, how about that. 

But then is is quite a chap, or he is now. When Roger Moore was him he was more of a slightly odd uncle with a dodgy haircut. Who was good at getting women.

These days Bond is witty, slick and nails. As in hard as. He doesn't seem to have softened up in Daniel Craig's third outing. More of the same then, that's the spirit.

This time Bond's nemesis appears to be Javier Bardem, who is about as badass as you can get.

The list of new films to see this year is getting bigger. At least the December release of this will give me a chance to read the book.

Now I'm not sure what excites me the most - the new  The Avengers film starring pretty much all the Marvel superheroes in one film, or the LEGO series which accompanies it.

You've got mini Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Nick Fury, and Hawkeye in the new MARVEL SUPER HEROES Collection from LEGO.

The Avengers is out on May 4th.

This is a kind of all-inclusive dose of Marvel superheroes featuring just about every character who has been refurbished over recent years.

So you get Ironman, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, and Scarlett Johansson as that karate-kicking Black Widow as well as a whole load more.

All of a sudden the summer just got a whole lot brighter.

The Bourne Legacy: the other one

A Bourne film without Matt Damon? For a minute there I feared we were treading James Bond territory, where he gets reincarnated periodically and then I realised, this is a Bourne film without Matt Damon because it is a Bourne film without Jason Bourne.

Yes, there was more than one renegade super-trooper after Project Treadstone, and Jeremy Renner is he.

And to be fair, Renner has seen more action that Damon did before Bourne - he was the sniper in 28 Weeks Later and also the bomb disposal loonie in the Hurt Locker, among other gung-ho roles.

The Amazing Spiderman: more bite

The Spiderman franchise chunders on with a reboot bringing it back to the beginning. And judging by the trailer, it makes Toby Maguire's effort look more like Charlotte's Web.
