Adidas denim: pictures speak a thousand swear words

As usual that style sucker Adidas is trying to get its claws into another thing it thinks it is missing out on, and as usual it totally misses the point.

This time that lumbering abortion of a sportswear brand has turned its attention to denim, with predictable consequences.

As usual the video is the best thing about it.

Stick to what you know, making tracksuits.

Adidas ObyO Jeremy Scott Teddy Bears: words truly fail me

Like some sort of sick psycho plush experiment this teddy bear has been sliced and mutilated into an Adidas trainer. His mate is the other foot.

So his expression, reminiscent of what someone might look like in the process of being hung, drawn and quartered, might not be very far from the truth.

That German sportswear monolith has plumbed new depths with the ObyO Jeremy Scott Teddy Bears.

I can think of nothing more to say. The evidence is in front of you to judge for yourself and search deep within for an answer to that eternal riddle.

Why?

Adidas Star Wars Chewbacca: Look what they did to the wookie

I honestly thought Adidas would have moved on from this whole 'Star Wars realised through the medium of footwear' thing, but it looks like they're going to milk it a little bit more.

Look at these. Chewbacca? Granted the wookie was a legend, but these are just wrong. Maybe it's the fur. Is that supposed to be his eyebrows?

Adidas goes to the Star Wars cantina. Then has a pint in the Rovers

I might not like all these collaborations Adidas is releasing, and out of them all possibly the most farcical is the Star Wars release. Some of those creations really are from a galaxy far, far away. And that's where they should have stayed.

But I can't help liking the videos they're putting together to promote the stuff. That city block party one was a bit trying too hard for me, admitedly, but this take on the Star Wars cantina is superb - you get Becks giving Creedo a tough time as Han Solo. Nice jacket he's got on, too.

And you also get a cameo from Daft Punk. Who's have thunk they travelled so far?

Looks like Tattooine is becoming quite a destination these days.

Unfortunately, just as they were starting to look a bit credible, Adidas also released this. And I realised why I hate the very air that they breathe. Cornation Street? Please.

Adidas Originals behind the scenes: You can't buy cred

I can just about forgive Ian Brown for being involved in this whole Adidas Originals street party campaign thing. He is, after all, the sportswear king - he was probably born wearing a tracksuit top.

Kazuki, I'll forgive him too. Those plaid three-layer jackets he's come up with (he's wearing one in this video) are among the best things I've seen sporting an Adidas logo.

When I think about it, what I really dislike so much about this initiative, and Nike's NSW streetwear equivalent, is that it's so good. But only because they've unashamedly ripped off the idea of reinventing and technically updating streetwear classics from the likes of Visvim.

Using their considerable financial muscle, they've persuaded Kazuki from Fragment Design to add that touch of refinement they've been so clearly lacking.

But can you buy credibility? If so, how many "cool" faces does it cost? How many shots of skateboarders and graffiti and rooftop parties?

I don't personally think Adidas could ever spend enough. In fact the more they spend in reinventing themselves, the more annoyed I will become. Even if I do like that jacket.
And while I'm on the subject of Adidas, what the hell is that Star Wars line? Are they having a laugh?

Adidas Originals SS2010: Party on

Adidas doesn't do things by half when it throws a party. Top of a building in London, sweet soul music pumping and no sign of anyone throwing up in the corner.

Just beautiful people as far as the eye can see, bedecked in the latest creations from the Brand With the Three Stripes and doing all sorts of acrobatic stuff, like running, because they can and because they just got given some new trainers.

You know what it's like. One minute you've had a couple of lagers and the next you're challenging your mate to a 100 metre sprint. Happens all the time.

This is all taking place on a street called Originality, which must be just around the corner from Jumping On The Bandwagon Avenue. Find it on Google Maps.

Look a bit closer and there's even a few familiar faces. I suppose it helps make up the numbers, although who let Noel Gallagher in is anyone's guess.

Someone should call security.

Adidas Originals Star Wars campaign

You're on a fairly save bet with Star Wars if you're a brand with your eyes on a collaboration. Just look what it did for Lego.

This time it's the turn of Adidas to have a sprinkling of that spacedust, with a campaign which has got a lot to do with Star Wars and something to do with the neighborhood (that's a small n so not NBHD).

Adidas is mobilising a machine to rival any star destroyer for this year-long campaign. It promises artists, athletes and celebs all hanging around on street corners or something.

All to a soundtrack of a remixed Imperial March.

Watch the video. You'll probably be none the wiser, but it looks good.

Adidas ObyO Kazuki SS10

I wish these sportswear giants would stop coming up with stuff that I like. I don't want to want their creations. They are the McDonald's of clothing - absolutely everywhere and generally bland.

But just as my dislike for the likes of Adidas and Nike reaches a peak, out comes a collection in collaboration with a cool Japanese designer and I'm forced to re-evaluate my position.

Like this latest ObyO spring summer line by Adidas in colab with Kazuki who has been involved with many of the better-known Japanese labels.

They have upped the ante this time, using Goretex fabrics and producing an altogether slicker collection. At first glance it also looks like they've managed to hold back from adding the three-stripe mark of a chav to the arms.

The rain jackets and the Baracuta style swing top stand out. This is one collection I'll find hard to resist.
