Uniform Experiment x Carhartt SS 2013 capsule: Good luck tracking it down

Uniform Experiment has been collaborating with Cahartt for three seasons now and I haven't seen a single item in person. Then again I only remember seeing one Carhartt x APC t-shirt ever.

The benefits of these collaborations are obvious and this collection looks like a prime candidate for tracking down, although if the only option it Tokyo, they can, quite frankly, keep them.

Visvim for women: why should blokes get all the best gear?

It was inevitable really that Hiroki Nakamura would launch a womenswear collection. In fact the only surprise is that it took him this long.

Visvim has dabbled with female garments before, but never as a complete collection - more the odd pair of shoes or skirt. I think there was a pink ballistic rucksack once.

This time, the WMV offers the full head-to-toe ensemble, and aside from the knee-length boots and smiley face arm patches, to look at it you would think it was for fellas. You have high tops, gingham shirts, t-shirts in suitably soft jersey, stoles, everything the Visvim aficionado would expect.

So if you're into the brand you'd better hope she doesn't get into it too, because you could have all sorts of bother when it comes to getting it out of the washing machine.

APC Jean Touitou T-shirt: a tall order

APC's Jean Touitou is never one to mince his words. I once read an interview where he basically destroyed the person interrogating him without so much as a shrug. Now he reckons he has made the perfect T-shirt.

History is littered with the corpses of companies which have laid claim to such a feat and done nothing of the sort, because the simple T-shirt, as with anything so instrinsically basic, is incredibly difficult to perfect. Get the neck wrong and you look too scrawny, the sleeves too tight and you look like a shot-putter, and woe betide you if you allow the hem to rise too high. I shiver at the prospect. 

But I guess that if anyone can come up with the perfect tee, it would be APC, so all I've got to say is let's see it so we can judge for ourselves. 

Because there is a first for everything.

Visvim SS13 lookbook: peace an dat

Visvim have tried a different approach with their new collection and have decided to just throw it all out there in one comprehensive lookbook. 

This is where you get to see the multi-layering, loose laid-back fit Hiroki has become so fond of over the past few seasons, as he eschews technical weather-proof fabrics for something altogether more ... organic.

The trademark twists remain with the footwear and tribal influenced patterns, but as some observers have pointed out already, what's with the United Nations gubbins? Presumably not in the collection. Or the club chair, although I wouldn't put anything past them.

Supreme Spring / Summer 2013: counting down the days

By my reckoning there should be a queue forming outside Supreme in Peter Street sometime soon. You might even find a couple of Japanese tourists out there now with their little camping chairs and Supreme flasks. They like waiting around for stores to open. 

The spring / summer 2013 collection from Supreme is pretty much as you would expect. The hippy patterns are continuing through, on bomber jackets mainly, there's a new camo on a military inspired jacket and the word Supreme has made it onto the back of more or less everything.

Except on one coach jacket, where it is spelt Supream. Could this be a nod to Joey Essex? And there was me thinking he was brand cyanide. But what the fuck do I know?
