Having just moved house my thoughts have been turning more towards interior decor, and are likely to stay that way until we've got the place done. This took four years in the last house, so it never really tends to be an overnight occurence.
At the moment I'm at the research stage, hoarding interiors mags and the like. I have pretty much all the furniture I require, which brings us to the walls.
Members' club founder Nick Jones has got the right idea. Leave the walls bare, or sling up some random tat, even leave the tester squares up, and call ship in the chairs. Industrial, chic, that's the way forward. Then if I change my mind I'm halfway towards redecorating anyway.
This is Soho House in New York. The other addresses will follow.

GQ babe of the year: Scarlett Johansson
There are few things that get better with time. A beard, perhaps, if you happen to be growing it, or a garden, maybe a pair of jeans if they're made from the right kind of denim.
And Scarlett Johansson. At 26 she's GQ's Babe of the Year and a seems a million miles from Lost in Translation. It would be tempting to say it's all downhill from here, but her roles seem to get better by the movie and our Scarlett all the more comfortable in them. And there's nothing more attractive than a girl who is totally at ease with herself.
Visit GQ.com for the feature.

Visvim Serra Paccard: if you're hard enough
I'm guessing Visvim has probably sorted out the agony element of its Serra hiker boots since they released the ones that I own. No world of a lie, this is the second winter I've had them and they are still giving me blisters like they are just out of the box. Every time I complete a journey in relative comfort and think I have at last broken them in, they turn round and bite me right on the heel on the return trip.
Many a time I have considered giving them a new home, or perhaps ritually burning them at the end of the garden, but in a twisted way, I love them.
They don't look terribly different to these either. This year's release has a suede upper and a Goodyear welted sole, but the style remains.
If you do buy a pair, or even mine if I become totally sick of them, I wish you all the best for an abusive relationship. The wounds will heal, I promise.

Tron: Legacy: Style of Tron video
The hype around Tron: Legacy is becoming as supercharged as one of those fancy bikes they ride around on. The Times is even saying it could be this year's Avatar.
If that's not enough to have you getting a neon glow on and hot footing it down the cineplex, maybe this video on the style of the film will persuade you to go see it.
I would tell you more but I haven't watched it - I'm just trying to bang out as many posts as possible while I have an internet connection. Broadband connections are a bit like video games. They're either on or they're off. In my house it's mainly off.

The making of the Pirelli calendar: the Lagerfeld factor
It took me ages to work out the meaning of the acronynm NSFW on blog posts until I realised that all the posts it appeared on seemed to feature something naked. That's when it dawned on me that it stands for Not Suitable for Work.
NSFW certainly applies to the making of the Pirelli calendar, as you might expect for a publication which has been such a purveyor of bare breasts. How else would you get thousands of garage mechanics the world over to look at it?
Karl Lagerfeld has got involved this time round, which I guess must be a good thing, given that he has built a career around the study of the female form.
Judge for yourself, but not at work, unless you work in a garage, presumably.

I'm still here ... honest
A day is a long time in blog land. A week seems like an eternity. So I understand if you've all cleared off somewhere that actually offers something to read.
Worst of all, Sky have told me they won't be hooking me up with broadband or a landline until December 10. The way the snow is coming down, I'll probably be buried under six feet of the stuff until then.
But the one thing that is keeping me going in this technological drought, where even my dongle has coughed out it's last byte, is the thought that someone might still be out there to read the tosh I pedal out.
Normal service will resume one day I promise, and if I get a reasonable connection I might even post a picture. What luxury. I tease myself.
Hang in there.

Visvim Hudson jacket: soggy dog story
Seeing as we've got the kind of weather that would keep an eskimo indoors smoking his kippers, you might as well make sure you look like one. When in Rome, as it were.
This Hudson jacket looks like it's made up of a few pelts of varying descriptions, hopefully none of them too endangered.
And given tendency of shearling to smell like a soggy dog when it gets wet you better stick to the Gore Tex on the really bad days.
I bet Hiroki didn't think of that.
Oh, and if you're wondering how I've managed a post with pictures it's because I wrote it last night when I had access to a real live connection. Fantastic.
