Faile show part 1 - Lazarides Greek Street

Art shows at the Lazarides gallery in Greek Street don't stop at the mere hanging of a few pictures - they involve redecorating the entire gallery.

This could be a practice born more out of necessity than anything else, because ever since Lucy McLauchlan turned the place into a walk-in illustration a couple of years ago, everyone else has had to follow suit, or face the prospect of having their art hanging on walls decorated by the previous exhibitor.

So the Faile show became something of an assault on the senses. Faile papered walls, and Eighties video machines (£1500 a pop) all plastered with the urban art collective's trademark flyer images turned the place into a slot machine arcade gone mental.

Downstairs was even more surreal, with flourescent prints covering the walls and glow-in-the-dark table football.

Like an Eighties youth club on acid.
