John Lobb brogues: watch out for splashbacks

You've really got three choices of where to look while standing at the urinal. The most obvious is at the ceiling, which I do on a regular basis. There's a little greenfly which has been up there for so long it is more than likely fossilised.

You can also look into the plughole, or generally around the basin area.

Or you can look at the floor. Which is where I was looking when I noticed Nick's brogues. A very nice pair they were too, of sound construction, in a deep tan.

Turns out he got them in a sale. "They're quite good ones, Lobbs I think," he said, in a modestly dismissive manner.

I had heard of Lobbs, or John Lobbs, to be precise. The name rang an expensive, gentlemanly bell in my head.

It turns out John Lobb is indeed rather a bespoke shoemaker, operating out of Jermyn Street. Handmade to order, and no prices on the website, so they must cost a small fortune.

You wouldn't want to be getting any splashback on them, that's for sure.

By the way. The picture isn't of the actual shoes. That is a similarish pair of Lobbs.
