Save the snowboard gear for the mountains

OK so we've had another 4" of snow. It's still snowing. The weatherman said there's going to be another 8" tonight. That's going to make about a foot, in old measurements.

But no matter how much snow we get this is still England. Not La Plagne, St Moritz, St Anton, or any other ski resort. Which means that regardless of how deep it gets, it's never really going to be enough to get the snowboard out, or any of your snowboard gear. Maybe you could get away with a jacket and the woolly hat. Not the trousers, or the snowboard boots. Definitely not goggles.

This post is going to have come too late for a lot of people I have seen at the top of one of the larger hills in Leigh-on-Sea. Yes, I have seen a snowboarder, I have seen someone wearing the goggles, and worse than that - far worse, I have seen two sledgers in full camo snow suits. Come on.

Just because we're sub zero here is not a reason to throw any sense of dressing out of the window. Jeans will still do, and there are plenty of cosy winter garments available without anyone having to resort to their ski gear.

There's a time and place for this stuff, and that is in a ski resort. Period.

Now, where did I put those crampons?
